What is Physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy is an evidence-based healthcare profession that promotes recovery from injury, illness or disability. This is achieved through education and advice, movement and exercise, self-management and manual therapy techniques. The fundamental principle of physiotherapy is the patient’s involvement in their care; this is achieved through careful discussion with each individual around their specific objectives and goals they wish to achieve. This approach encourages empowerment, awareness and participation in their treatment. This reinforces patient and therapist relationship to achieve success.

MSc (Pre-reg) Physiotherapy, BSc (Hons) Sports Therapy – (HCPC No PH119837)

I qualified from the University of St Mark and St John in 2013. From there I went on to work in a variety of different areas with rehabilitation; as Sports Therapist at the Cornish Pirates and in the NHS working in Stroke Rehabilitation. In 2019 I graduated from the University of Essex with an MSc in Physiotherapy and since then I have been working as a specialist rotational physiotherapist in the NHS covering; neurological rehabilitation, community and medical physiotherapy. Currently, I also work in several GP surgeries as a first-contact physiotherapist.

Throughout my time working in rehabilitation, I have facilitated a wide range of patients to recover from illness and improve the quality of their lives. The basis of my treatment is to understand the nature of their problem and work together to achieve their goals and aspirations.
